Uses lower half very well, driving off back leg with good hip rotation, clearing out his front side for electric arm. Not a ton of extension, but delivery is athletic and repeatable with advanced stuff for his age. |

Fairly straight, but gets on the hitters quickly. Can locate to either side of the plate, but usually keeps the ball up and lets breaking pitches play off the location. More of a thrower but has the athleticism to refine his control as he ages. |

Big 12/6 bender with a lot of downward vertical break. Lacks a power finish and gets a little loopy, but gets so much movement that it could be a good two-strike pitch to chase or freeze hitters sitting fastball. |

Got better as game went on... Thrown predominately to glove side and was devastating to right handed batters chasing off the plate and in the dirt. Very late two-plane break with biting finish. Could develop into his best pitch. |

Rarely used, didn't quite have the feel for it but is a work in progress. Arm speed seemed to telegraph the pitch and didn't get all the way around it. |
An excellent athlete to toe the rubber, Malone has loads of ability for his age. Not only does he have a plus fastball that could amp up a tick or two in the future, but he has two average to better breaking pitches that flash plus to double-plus at times. The changeup is an afterthought with a lethal three-pitch mix at the ready, as he consistently attacks hitters with his power stuff. He's still learning the finer points of pitching, but has all the building blocks for a front-line starter. As there is with many hard-throwing prep pitchers, there is some risk involved, but Malone is well worth the high draft pick given his advanced tools.
