Athletic on mound with minimal movement in a repeatable delivery; under control and good paced. Leg kick comes above knee in a northwest direction from ground. Controls center of gravity when extending front leg to plant, allowing him to generate power from back leg well. Xhort, compact arm motion. Not much downward motion after separating glove and throwing hand, almost straight back, with good arm speed. Quicker leg kick in stretch, 1.31-1.39 to home plate, bounces off the mound. |

Already shows average command for pitch. Fairly straight but had late life and had natural tail on occasion. Possesses regular swing-and-miss ability when command improves. |

Showed slurve-like tendencies, but more downward than horizontal break. Hard, late break with bite. Filthy pitch when he commanded it. Consistently missed in dirt, but showed average feel. |

Downward and tail action. Good arm speed when compared to fastball. Average command. |

Minimal cut into lefties. Didn't have great feel for pitch, which resulted in shaky command. There's an argument that it is not a truly distinct pitch from his fastball. |
Being only 19-years-old, Contreras has time to grow as a pitcher, which makes projecting him even harder. With a plus fastball and potential to have a second plus offering in his curveball, I think a realistic floor for Contreras is a back-end starter, with his ceiling being a mid-rotation arm.
