Brady Singer

Born: 08/04/1996 (Age: 22)
Bats: Right Throws: Right
Height: 6' 5" Weight: 215
Mechanics
Starts motion with hips already closed to home. Uses a super quick delivery, with a cross over leg kick to create some momentum towards home. Collapses back side a tad. Long arm circles that come back to an inverted-W when landed, stays on line towards home well. Low-3/4 arm slot. Surprising amount of balance throughout delivery given the number of moving parts.

Pitch Type Future Grade Sitting Velocity Peak Velocity Report
Fastball 55 92-94 95 Mostly 93, topping 95. Excellent arm side run and sink, movement can be more vertical or more horizontal at times. Plus command and feel for the pitch, works to both sides of the plate with ease. Quick delivery and low arm slot helps the pitch play up. Excellent ground ball pitch, especially when down in the zone.
Slider 55 81-83 84 Super firm pitch with good albeit little two-plane break, not a big time swing-and-miss pitch, shows good command of the pitch, but not at the same level as the FB, flashes two variations of the pitch that are very subtle in their difference, both with firm, late break, but one with a bit more vertical movement. Might not be different enough to be truly different pitch.
Changeup 45 84 84 Only flashed a handful of times second time through the order. Still a developing pitch that didn't show much bite or fade at the moment.
Overall

Singer's strengths are well known: a track record of durability, performance in the SEC, fastball command, and ability to mix pitches. That causes the package to play up in overall projection more than you might expect from the individual pitch grades, even lacking a true plus-plus pitch. The movement and command of the fastball give him a high floor as a back-end major league starter, but an underdeveloped changeup and no swing-and-miss breaking ball will limit his reasonable upside to a no. 3 starter. An uptick in velocity isn't out of the question, as his lean 6'5" frame definitely has room to add muscle, although the touch of effort in his delivery and low-3/4 arm slot might complicate things. It's no secret that Singer is a big-time competitor with the mental strength to be a big-leaguer.
