Brady Wager

Born: 11/17/1990 (Age: 23)
Bats: Right Throws: Right
Height: 6' 3" Weight: 190
Mechanics
Bigger frame; power build; looks to weigh much more than listed; max effort type of delivery; 3/4th arm slot; above-average arm speed; plane is lacking; uses hips well on drive; good drive and extension; falls off at times; hips can toque too much and will result in dragging his arm across and overthrowing; delivery is relatively smooth for max effort

Pitch Type Future Grade Sitting Velocity Peak Velocity Report
FB 55 90-93 93 Good velocity; explosion; looks faster than actual velo listed; straight; lacks plane and horizontal movement; fringe command currently; max effort type that gets his entire body into the pitch; tough to make it consistently through a lineup because hitters will start to sit on the FB; would work much better out of pen where he can pump it; likely would see a tick in velo in max effort, 1.0 inning role.
SL 55 80-82 83 Popular offering during this outing; average tilt; sometimes will hang; best pitch has tight spin and whips through zone; command is below-average; currently struggles with release points; doubled and tripled up on the pitch multiple times; release points are off; releasing too early a few times; could be a solid-average offering with more consistency and better release points.
CH 20 83-84 84 Poor pitch; only threw a handful; lacks any feel or fade; cannot find a release point; poor command; past viewings have resulted in the same opinion.
Overall

Wager has a good FB but lacks the plane and movement for it to really hold on its own. The SL has come along since I last saw him, but still shows inconsistencies that haunt him throughout a start. The CH is non-existent and will keep him from a rotation as early as next season. Wager is a reliever in the future, and will rely on the FB/SL combo.

Without a true plus pitch, I do not see impact out of the bullpen, but a serviceable org arm that could potentially see some sporadic success as a middle relief type.
