| Bigger than listed weight. Strong, athletic build. Over the head windup; high front elbow; high 3/4; generates big time tilt. Good plane. Small hip turn. Very athletic. Pressure on back leg. Generates average hip torque. Drops arm low behind back knee, causing some deception. |

Four seam fastballs, especially up, would straighten out. True pitch. Needed to throw more 2SFB, which he would to arm side. Up to 94-95 when he needs it, but worked 91-93 with life down in the zone. Can add and subtract a tick or two. Strongest fastballs are down in zone, working top of knees to shins. Command needs some sharpening, especially arm side. |

True money pitch; deception low in the zone; fastball arm speed. Pitch dies at the plate, with some sink. Limited fade, but looks like a fastball until the last second. Touched every number on the gun from 81 to 86 with the offering, adding and subtracting. Threw two at 77 as well. Will throw to RHB in addition to LHB. Pitches backwards, and often throws change ups in hitters counts. Trusts the pitch implicitly. |

Spike curve grip. Can throw pitch for a strike or as chase offering. Will get loose and hang, but flashed solid average. Pitch is better on outer half of the plate to RHB; won't use it much to lefties. Keeps hitters off his other offerings; used to set up other pitches. Shipley is newer to pitching, yet looks polished on the bump. Has good presence, fields the position well, and controls the game. His fastball could straighten out at times, but with more repetition, may use some finger pressure to run and cut. Fastball command could get a bit loose, but athleticism and overall repeatable delivery allow for improvement. Uses advanced sequencing, and played off his change up. The change doesn't have big movement, but rather excellent deception and dying action at the plate--8 swinging strikes on in my viewing. The CB lags behind the other two offerings, but should become major league average. Shipley's stuff isn't overly loud, but the entire package-- along with a swing and miss change up, should allow him to become a middle of the rotation starter.
