Acevedo was a position prospect two years ago. He is now making the transition to the mound so he can use his elite arm speed and velocity as an asset. This is one of the best arms I have seen this season, but the command is virtually non-existent. He has two potential plus pitches, but the mechanical inconsistencies are going to hinder his overall potential for a long time. If he can fix the mechanics, and it could take a very long time, he could become a worthy reliever in short inning stints. Realistically, I do not think he will ever be able to harness his command enough to warrant any chance at a consistent role.
