Lawlar is a prep shortstop, so it will take time for him to get to the big leagues. That said, he's got a lot of qualities that will see him through the minors. With strong defense, elite speed, and strong contact Lawlar has a strong foundation for success. The adjustment time from high school to professional ball will take time, but Lawlar is suited to make that transition. That doesn't mean it will be quick, but it's not likely to be problematic. If he continues along this path, he's a good everyday MLB shortstop who if he makes better contact can become a regular All Star. Even if he stays roughly the same, an every day regular is almost assured.
