Hit	60	Would grade this a 55 on pure hit ability alone, but Baty's approach is so good for his experience level that I believe the future outcome is a half-grade higher. Classic leveraged lefty stroke that's already much better than it was when he entered pro ball two years ago (and it wasn't too bad then). Plus-plus bat speed. He does have some length to his swing given his size, and some swing-and-miss in his game because of that, though bat path optimization has helped. His approach is plus-plus in context; he has a keen eye at the plate. He's aggressive on what he thinks he can drive, and fouls off pitches in the zone he can't.
Power	70	Fairly easy plus-plus raw power; put on the best batting practice at the 2021 Futures Game. In-game, the ball can fly off his bat to all fields with excellent carry; he's clearly a strong young man, and he can drive pitches on all parts of the plate. Since 2019, he's added significant loft to his swing to get to more power at 7 PM. The one knock is that he still hits the ball on the ground a bit more than you'd like, and he's going to have to lift it even more to get to all of this potential.
Baserunning/Speed	45	Average to fringe-average runner at present; may lose an additional step as he ages. Not a major basestealing threat, but not a huge clogger either, and has enough foot speed to play the outfield if needed.
Glove	50	All of my defensive views of him were at third base, though he's also begun to pick up reps in the outfield. I don't think he's going to be a Gold Glove candidate, and there have been some reliability questions dating back to before the draft (only fielding .931 and made a typical-looking error for me), but he showed solid range and hands on the whole.
Arm	60	Plus arm at present, plus arm strength and gets rid of the ball well. Should be well more than enough arm strength for an outfield transition if necessary.

If you read those grades and thought "hey, a potential 6 hit/7 power player who might stick at third sounds like a star," well, you're right. Baty is a potential building block-type player for me. Top 20 prospect in baseball.
