Tool Future Grade Report
Hit 45 More consistent stroke from right side with good, quick path to zone and slight lift. He covers the plate from the right side. Power-based stroke from the left side with a deeper hand load with lift. Clearer hot zones from the left side. Overall swing-and-miss concerns. Solid-average bat speed. Feel to walk but in-zone miss is there.
Power 55 Projects for overall consistent gap power and solid pull-side pop. Occasional opposite, over-the-fence carry. Left-handed stroke geared for impact pull-side power. Hit could prevent max utilization.
Baserunning/Speed 50 Likely to slow a tick as he ages. He'll remain a solid runner with an occasional stolen bag. Good athlete but not impactful home to first.
Glove 50 Solid actions carry his defensive profile. Soft glove. Strong first step and footwork. Range could slow a tick and prevent permanent shortstop future. Does everything right at short but time will tell future. More than enough athleticism for third.
Arm 55 Solid-average release and carries well. Not a weapon from left side but more than enough.
Overall

Davidson is a first-round talent based on the frame and array of tools. He doesn’t have a clear carrying tool, but he does pretty much everything well and does it from the left side of the infield. It’s a solid frame with height, length and athleticism, and there’s room for added muscle to tap into good power projection. There are swing-and-miss concerns and he’s likely to rack up strikeouts, but he walks and will hit for power while playing short or third down the road. An organization will probably have a decision to make regarding his defensive home in the future, but he’s a serviceable shortstop and will remain one for at least a while. There’s a lot to like with the potential in this profile.
